Job description

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?

At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.

Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to manage project prioritization, provide regular status updates, facilitate tradeoff discussions, and ensure on-time project delivery. You will also be responsible for improving and streamlining case management workflows to ensure efficiency and compliance.
As the primary point of contact for internal teams and external vendors, you will help prioritize system updates and resolve issues. Your responsibilities will also include managing system access, overseeing change management processes, and providing training on updates.

To be successful in this role, you should have 5+ years of experience managing large-scale programs, particularly within FinCrime systems, and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach are essential. Experience in fintech or cryptocurrency and certifications like ACAMS are highly valued.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with engineering to design, prioritize, and deliver solutions for the AML case management system.
  • Manage a backlog of features and enhancements by clearly defining problems, business needs, and success metrics.
  • Facilitate the resolution of cross-functional dependencies through collaboration with vendors and internal teams to maintain a unified roadmap.
  • Oversee compliance technology programs, ensuring alignment with regulatory and business goals throughout planning, execution, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, CX, Product, and Engineering teams to manage multiple projects and ensure timely completion.
  • Provide effective communication and program updates across cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Establish governance frameworks, reporting structures, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for tracking program success.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks associated with compliance technology projects.
  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements within compliance processes through the implementation of technology solutions.

What we look for in you:

  • 5+ years of experience in program management, technology implementation, or compliance projects.
  • Demonstrated success managing large-scale technology programs within highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and proficiency in relevant tools (JIRA, Confluence, Asana, etc.).
  • Experience working with global systems.
  • Highly collaborative with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to effectively engage with diverse internal and external stakeholders.

Nice to haves:

  • One or more of the following certifications: ACAMS, CCAS, TRM-CI, TRM-ACI
  • Knowledge of GRC (Governance, Risk, and Compliance) platforms and compliance automation tools.
  • SQL experience a plus
  • Fintech/Startup experience
  • Crypto industry experience
