  • Insurance Product Management Expertise: Extensive background in insurance product management, with a deep understanding of commercial lines insurance products, pricing architecture, and state regulations.
  • Analytical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis, trend analysis, and competitor data. Proficiency in analytical tools, relational databases, data visualization techniques, and statistical software.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of coding languages such as R or SQL to support data analysis and product management tasks.

Job Description Summary

Our work is essential to helping Nationwide build future capability to serve customer needs. Keeping existing products relevant and marketable and building new products takes research, critical thinking, practicality and collaboration. As an Associate Product Manager, you'll be responsible for positioning products for profitable growth within states that are generally smaller or less complex. You may have opportunities to work on a portion of a more sophisticated state in support of Product Manager. Work will include implementing processes related to financial planning, rate reviews, market development and communication. You'll support regional and corporate objectives through ongoing analysis and monitoring of results to ensure alignment to objectives.

Job Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyze information from multiple sources, including competitor filings and internal data, to perform comprehensive analysis and anticipate variables impacting product performance.
  • Analyze product performance and identify opportunities at various levels, validating assumptions and developing recommendations based on data insights.
  • Manage own schedule and coordinate project timelines to ensure timely completion of key processes like rate reviews.
  • Recommend product positioning strategies to optimize profitability, influencing decisions with internal and external partners.
  • Develop detailed product plans aligned with financial objectives and corporate strategies, providing input to regional and corporate planning teams.
  • Consult with leadership and partners on analysis, business performance, and strategic initiatives, supporting distribution and underwriting performance.
  • Communicate complex data and strategic concepts effectively to diverse audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Build and maintain relationships with peers and partners, participating in cross-functional teams and supporting ongoing education and mentorship.
  • Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.

Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Reporting Relationships

Reports to Senior Product Manager.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields preferred.

Experience: Six years in underwriting or product management preferred, with cross-functional and data analysis experience advantageous.

Skills: Knowledge of commercial lines insurance, strong analytical, communication, and project management skills; proficiency in analytical tools and software.

Work Conditions: Normal office environment, additional hours, some travel.

Salary Range: $78,000.00 - $117,000.00 starting range, with a total range up to $145,500.00.
