Job summary

The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) is looking for an experienced Database Administrator to design and maintain databases that meet company standards. In this role, you will manage database performance, support access methods, and ensure disaster recovery drills are executed.

Job description

What You’ll Do

This role will design and maintain databases and database solutions that operate within prescribed resource limits and meet company standards. Participate in and contribute to all phases of systems development projects. Monitor and tune database and database application performance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the design, implementation, and maintenance of databases
• Manage database performance and disk usage
• Provide support in database access methods
• Provide consultation support in database analysis, modeling, coding, and production problem resolution
• Develop maintenance, backup and recovery procedures and documentation
• Participate in Disaster Recovery Drills
• Provide primary on‑call support for production problems
• Understand and support corporate data standards
• Recommend and assist with new DBMS and operational standards
• Participate in testing and evaluation of new software and software release upgrades
• Support business studies, proposal teams and costing/feasibility studies
• Prepare system documentation
• Maintain metadata repositories
• Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience as an associate DBA
• Proficient in DML, DDL, and database utilities for at least two DBMS technologies
• Proficient in all access methods of a DBMS as well as the underlying operating system access methods

Technical Skills

• 3+ years’ experience with Microsoft SQL Server
• 1+ year of Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins & CI/CD skills or enthusiasm to learn
• 3+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or Business
• Related financial industry experience (preferred)

Certificates or Licenses

• Microsoft Certified: Database Administrator Associate (preferred)

Compensation

• The salary range listed for any given position is exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses. Final base salary will be determined by skills, experience, and education.
• We consider internal equity as part of any final offer.
• We typically do not hire at the maximum of the range to allow for future salary growth.
• All employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on company and individual performance.

Salary Range

$112,000.00 – $152,500.00

Incentive Range

8% to 15%

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The amount of such award, if any, will be based on various factors, including individual and company performance.
