We are seeking an Associate Planning Engineer to join our dynamic Energy & Systems Solutions team. In this role, you will provide transmission planning consulting services as an entry‑level engineer, working under the supervision of senior staff on projects for Municipal Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, and Regional Planning organizations (ISOs/RTOs). This position offers a foundational opportunity to develop technical expertise within the Leidos Planning practice.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Support: Solve simple, routine technical problems following established procedures and policies.
  • Systems Analysis: Apply basic principles, theories, and concepts of electrical engineering to support transmission system planning and power system analysis.
  • Tool Utilization: Utilize and develop proficiency in industry‑standard analytical tools such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, Synergi, WindMil, PSS/E, PSLF, PowerGEM TARA, or ASPEN.
  • Documentation: Assist in the technical writing of project findings and contribute to the preparation of basic analysis for project reports.
  • Communication: Communicate with peers to explain facts, basic analysis, and engineering processes related to your work area.
  • Professional Development: Learn to apply NERC reliability standards FERC regulatory policies, or IEEE standards to real‑world infrastructure projects.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Experience: Less than 1 year of prior relevant experience.
  • Knowledge: Basic knowledge of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of the electrical engineering domain (e.g., load flow, short circuit, and basic circuitry).
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to solve routine technical problems in a team environment.
  • Communication: Demonstrates solid oral and written communication skills for peer-to-peer collaboration.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to project and/or client sites as required for data collection or team meetings.
Pay Range

Pay Range $57,850.00 - $104,575.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
