Summary of Job Duties: The Phlebotomist supports all sections of the Clinical Outpatient Laboratory through proper phlebotomy techniques as well as proper specimen accessioning, processing and related activities. This position will use correct blood collection tubes, ordering correct test from requisitions.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School, GED or formal education equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 year experience working in a clinical laboratory or as a medical assistant
  • CPR, CAN, PBT, MLA, or CPT Certification

Requirements:

  • Match identifiers to information on requisition and labels. Obtain blood from patient using proper phlebotomy techniques for clinical or medical testing, transfusions, donation, or research.
  • Resolve specimen and patient problems as they arise.
  • Follows all UAMS Department of Pathology Policies and Procedures for blood collection.
  • Obtains patient specimens at an acceptable rate.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
