Job description

Corporate Outpatient Coding Coordinator (Remote based in the US)

Under general supervision and with aid of Official Coding Guidelines, the Corporate Coding Coordinator, Outpatient performs second-level reviews on accounts, assists with department resolution, NThrive edits, and/or denials. The Corporate Coding Coordinator, Outpatient is responsible for assisting Corporate Coding leadership with second level coding reviews and provides education to both facility and vendor coders on correct coding. Acts as a SME for coding questions, reviews, or inquiries and codes outpatient accounts when coverage is needed. This position is responsible for post-discharge review of IP to OP flipped accounts. Position will support Tenet/USPI corporate located in Texas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs second-level reviews on accounts, including both pre-bill and post-bill, those holding for department resolution, those caught in NThrive, and/or denials sent back to the team from patient accounting (found in RR). This position is responsible for post-discharge review of IP to OP flipped accounts to apply correct CPT codes and modifiers.
  • Provides both facility and vendor coders with education and guidance on correct coding based on second level reviews.
  • Act as a SME for coding questions, reviews, or inquiries.
  • Codes outpatient accounts when coverage is needed.
  • Attends Tenet coding educations and maintains coding credentials.

Required:

  • Associates Degree in Health Information Management
  • RHIT or CCS/COC
  • 3-5 years outpatient coding experience.
  • Skilled and working knowledge of MS Office suite.
  • Ability to analyze coding related reports and take action.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management
  • RHIA and CCS/COC
  • 5+ years’ experience in a large, complex, multi-system hospital organization or outpatient clinic.

A pre-employment coding proficiency assessment will be administered.

Compensation:

  • Pay: $22.80-$36.40 per hour. Compensation depends on location, qualifications, and experience.
  • Position may be eligible for a signing bonus for qualified new hires, subject to employment status.
  • Observed holidays receive time and a half.
