Job summary

Invenergy LLC, headquarted in Chicago, seeks an Associate, Permitting to support permitting and regulatory compliance for utility-scale energy projects including wind, solar, storage, natural gas, and transmission.

You will compile permit requirements, assess risks, draft applications, and coordinate with development, legal, engineering, and environmental teams to ensure compliance and timely approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3 years of energy industry experience or relevant experience.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Evaluate project risks and execute strategies to obtain permits.
  • Draft and organize permit applications and regulatory filings with supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate internal and external teams (development, legal, engineering, environmental, construction).
  • Manage schedules and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • Interface with government agencies to communicate project objectives and benefits.

Position Overview

As an Associate, Permitting you will be responsible for supporting permitting and regulatory compliance tasks for utility‑scale energy projects including wind, solar, battery storage, natural gas, and transmission.

Responsibilities
  • Compile, review, and organize permit requirements in accordance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Evaluate project risks and execute strategy to obtain primary development permits.
  • Draft, review, and organize high‑quality and resilient permit applications and supporting documentation including agency data request responses, testimony, briefs, and regulatory compliance filings.
  • Coordinate internal and external technical support from development, legal, engineering, environmental, and construction teams.
  • Manage schedules and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Interface with government agencies to establish positive relationships and effectively communicate project objectives, details, and benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3 years of work experience in energy industry or relevant experience.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Juris Doctor, Master of Science, or similar graduate‑level degree. Experience with permitting, project management, and technical/legal writing.
  • Ability to quickly develop multidisciplinary expertise and act decisively in a fast‑paced business environment with competing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be self‑directed and detail‑oriented, with the ability and desire to effectively lead.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and GIS applications.
Base Pay

$85,000.00 - 103,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 20% - 30%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
