Position Summary

The Associate Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting accurate and timely payroll processing and maintaining the integrity of employee payroll information. This role assists with payroll data entry, record maintenance, time sheet review, employee inquiries, and routine system audits while learning Hope Gas payroll practices and procedures.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Enters approved Personnel Action Form changes into payroll systems and records and submits completed work for review.
• Maintains employee payroll information, including pay rates, deductions, tax information, and other routine payroll data.
• Reviews employee time sheets for missing or incomplete information and escalates discrepancies for resolution.
• Supports the processing of employee pay, statements of earnings and deductions, and routine payroll updates.
• Assists with entering data related to new hires, terminations, pay changes, and other approved employee transactions.
• Monitors time-off information and identifies potential inconsistencies with company policies and guidelines.
• Assists with maintaining payroll records, tax documentation, time sheets, and other employee data.
• Responds to routine employee and manager questions regarding payroll processes, time sheet submissions, and system access and refers complex questions to appropriate staff.
• Supports periodic reviews of Human Resources Information System and Human Capital Management data to identify discrepancies.
• Assists with payroll reports, required forms, system updates, and cross-functional payroll projects as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Serve as an Individual Contributor without supervisory responsibilities.
• Support and contribute towards team goals and objectives.

LEVELING

• The Associate Payroll Analyst performs work under close supervision in a learning capacity and applies foundational knowledge to assignments of limited scope, follows established procedures, and seeks guidance for unfamiliar tasks or problems.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Foundational knowledge of payroll practices, data entry, and recordkeeping.
• Ability to follow established payroll procedures and accurately enter employee information.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential records.
• Basic analytical and problem-solving skills to identify incomplete or inconsistent payroll information.
• Ability to manage routine assignments and meet established payroll deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic knowledge in Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn payroll and human resources systems.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling employee and payroll information.

Required Education & Work Experience

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, human resources, or related field.

High School Diploma or equivalent path

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent -and-
• At least 4 years of experience in payroll processing, human resources, accounting, or related field.

Physical Requirements

• Remain stationary for extended periods, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities.
• Lift, push, and/or pull up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
• Operate a computer and other office productivity machinery as necessary.
• Communicate with others to accurately exchange information and ideas.
• Hear sufficiently to allow general and phone communications.
• Visual acuity to read standard text on screens and documents, observe surroundings, recognize hazards, and perform tasks safely.
• Observe details at close range.
• Problem solve, prioritize tasks, and interpret and understand written documents.
