Job summary

UF Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) for full-time night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am. You will provide direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of an RN, helping to deliver safe, patient-centered care in a clean and orderly environment.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED, and BLS certification. CPI training within 90 days of hire is required for the Psychiatric unit. Experience is not required, as training is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• CPI training within 90 days for psychiatric unit.
• Less than one year of experience required.
• English reading/writing required.

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Qualifications

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups Required

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Necessary Skills:

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
