UF Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will help maintain a clean, safe environment and support patient and family satisfaction through service excellence.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification, and less than one year of experience. Psychiatric unit training via Crisis Prevention Institute within 90 days is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS Certification required.
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer (Psychiatric unit only).
• Less than one year of experience preferred.

Overview

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Qualifications

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Necessary Skills

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.


• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.


• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification


• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
