Job summary

UF Health in the St. Augustine region is seeking a part-time Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care under the supervision of an RN, delivering safe, patient-centered service during evening/night hours.

The PCA will help maintain a clean environment, collaborate with the care team, and use hospital systems while meeting licensing requirements and training within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification required.
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire for psychiatric unit, then annually.

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Qualifications

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Necessary Skills:

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
