Job summary

UF Health Shands Homecare is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of an RN. The role supports safe, patient-centered care while maintaining a clean and orderly environment and upholding service excellence to enhance patient and family satisfaction.

Shift: full-time, 36 hours per week, 7:00pm–7:00am. Requires High School Diploma or GED, BLS preferred, and experience under one year.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with the healthcare team.
• Learns and applies hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and reading/writing in English.

The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Necessary Skills

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.


• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.


• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification


• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
