Job summary

Optum is hiring an Associate Patient Care Coordinator to support patients and providers by coordinating appointments, verifying insurance, and handling billing inquiries. You will greet patients, schedule visits, collect co-pays, and ensure accurate registration and documentation, contributing to a compassionate patient experience.

  • Register patients with updated demographics and insurance data.
  • Collect co-pays and outstanding balances; explain payment options.
  • Coordinate patient flow with clinical staff and address questions.

Work Hours:

Monday to Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Answer inbound calls from patients and providers regarding appointments (approximately 60-80 calls a day) and general inquiries
  • Greeting and assist patients in person and by phone, ensuring a positive and compassionate patient experience
  • Schedule appointments, verify insurance eligibility, and obtain required authorizations
  • Register patients accurately by collecting and updating demographic, insurance, and medical information
  • Collect co‑pays and outstanding balances while explaining billing and payment options
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff to coordinate patient flow and resolve questions or concerns
  • Other duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer service experience
  • Basic level of proficiency in MS office

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $29.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
