Job summary

UF Health in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The position is full-time (36 hours/week) with a 7:00am–7:00pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work with all age groups.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS Certification required.
• CPI training within 90 days of hire or transfer for psychiatric unit.
• Less than one year of experience required.

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) provides direct patient care and supportive services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Qualifications

Age of Patients Served: All Age Groups

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Necessary Skills:

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.


• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.


• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification


• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
