Job summary

UF Health is seeking a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to join our inpatient care team in Saint Augustine, FL. This full-time role offers 36 hours per week, with a 7:00am to 7:00pm schedule, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to deliver direct patient care and supportive services.

The PCA will help maintain a safe, clean, and compassionate environment, communicate effectively with the healthcare team, and support patient and family satisfaction through service excellence and adherence to

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• CPI training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually for the Psychiatric unit

The PCA assists in delivering safe, effective, patient-centered care while ensuring a clean, orderly environment and demonstrating service excellence behaviors to promote patient and family satisfaction.

Necessary Skills

• Demonstrates teamwork and communicates in a professional manner with all of the healthcare team.
• Demonstrates the ability to learn and apply all hospital computer technologies and procedures that affect patient care delivery.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology and standard precautions, ability to read/write in English, etc.

Required Licensure/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute training within 90 days of hire or transfer and then annually is required for the Psychiatric unit only.
