Job summary

Community Health Network is seeking an Associate Patient Access Representative (APAR) to be the first contact for visitors, handling patient registration and financial clearance. The APAR performs check-ins, scheduling, payment collection, insurance verification, and compliance management to ensure smooth visits.

The role prepares patients administratively and financially for visits, supports accurate EHR entry, and ensures adherence to guidelines across the network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1+ years experience in healthcare office setting or strong customer service background preferred.
• Registration/Admissions: proficient in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency registrations.
• Completes admissions, discharges, and transfers timely when applicable.

Responsibilities

• The APAR is responsible for a variety of front-office and back-office functions network-wide.
• Handle check-ins, scheduling, and payment collection for patients.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and financial eligibility.
• Ensure accuracy of the electronic health record and CMS-compliant processes.

This role includes check-ins, scheduling, payment collection, insurance verification, and compliance management. The APAR ensures smooth workflows and adherence to guidelines, preparing patients administratively and financially for their visits.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

The Associate Patient Access Representative (APAR) is responsible for a variety of front-office and back-office functions throughout the network including but not limited to the responsibilities below:

• High School Diploma or GED High School diploma or GED equivalent (Required)
• 1+ years: Experience in healthcare office setting and/or work history with strong customer service background (Preferred)
• Registration/Admissions: Proficient in all types of registrations (i.e., inpatient, outpatient, and emergency admits)
• Completes Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers in a timely manner when applicable
• Ability to monitor and perform all patient hospital and/or ambulatory movement
• Utilizes EPIC work queue to pre-register scheduled patients
• Verifies medical necessity in accordance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) standards and communicates relevant coverage and eligibility information to the patient
• Accurately identifies and enters patient demographics, insurance, and financial information including inpatient and outpatient benefits
• Gathers and verifies all appropriate, confidential health and financial information from patients while using various computer software to assure payment for all authorized services
• Confirms the completeness of the electronic health record (EHR) and makes necessary changes
