Job description

NYC Parks is seeking to fill a position from Spring 2025 to October 11, 2025, for a rewarding job caring for and maintaining parks and playgrounds across New York City. The position requires a Commercial Driver License (CDL) and involves operating vehicles and equipment, maintaining grounds, supervising personnel, and ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.

Major Responsibilities

1. Drive vehicles and operate motorized equipment safely to perform assigned duties.
2. Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in proper working condition.
3. Maintain landscape and grounds; clean and repair facilities; follow agency rules and regulations.
4. Supervise assigned personnel and inspect work to ensure timely and quality completion.
5. Maintain records, track assignments, and order supplies.

Work Location: 138th Street, Bronx

Duration: Spring 2025 to 10/11/2025. 40 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 months of experience in gardening, grounds/tree maintenance, or trades; or
• One year of full-time experience in related fields.

License Requirement

Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver License in New York State, maintained during employment. Age restrictions may apply.

Preferred Skills

• CDL endorsement (Passenger, Tanker, Tow Truck)
• Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills
• Ability to train others
• Experience with specialized equipment (backhoes, loaders, etc.)
• Clean driving record
• Flexible working hours including nights and weekends
