Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

The Occupational Therapy Program is a new program in the School of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) that is targeted for five faculty members. The program is one of 11 departments or programs in the school (https://hhs.uncg.edu/). Faculty in HHS have a history of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. The school enrolls more than 3,000 students, including over 600 graduate students. Many undergraduate students in HHS are highly qualified and have ambitions to pursue careers in occupational therapy, contributing to HHS’s reputation as a destination school for aspiring occupational therapists. Position Summary

The Program Director of Occupational Therapy provides academic, administrative, and strategic leadership for the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) program. The Program Director is responsible for program leadership and administration; accreditation and compliance; curriculum design, assessment, and student success; and faculty recruitment and development. The Program Director serves as the ACOTE-designated Program Director and contributes to the University’s mission through teaching, scholarship, and service. We are seeking someone with vision to develop a program that aligns with the mission of of UNCG and is positioned for future growth to the doctorate.

Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership and Administration: Provide strategic and administrative leadership for the MSOT program, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Accreditation and Compliance: Serve as the ACOTE-designated Program Director responsible for achieving, maintaining, and documenting accreditation compliance.
  • Curriculum, Assessment, and Student Success: Lead curriculum design, assessment, and continuous improvement to ensure student learning outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Faculty Recruitment and Development: Recruit, supervise, and support faculty to ensure excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Teaching, Scholarship, and Service: Teach occupational therapy courses, maintain an active research agenda, and engage in institutional and professional service.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Initial certification as an occupational therapist and eligibility for licensure in North Carolina.
  • Earned doctoral degree (PhD, OTD, EdD, or equivalent) from a U.S. Department of Education–recognized accredited institution.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of documented experience in occupational therapy, including clinical practice.
  • At least four (4) years of experience as a faculty member with postsecondary teaching responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in academic administration, including program planning, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting.
  • Knowledge of ACOTE accreditation standards and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading a program through initial ACOTE accreditation or major accreditation review.
  • Demonstrated success in curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Evidence of sustained scholarly productivity and professional engagement.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
