Job summary

TEKsystems is seeking a contract-to-hire SCS Infrastructure Assistant to support the installation, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of university telecommunications systems in Tempe, AZ. The role focuses on aiding senior engineers, coordinating with vendors, and preparing reports on project compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience or coursework in structured cabling, network infrastructure, or telecommunications systems.
• Internship or relevant work experience in a higher education or enterprise environment.
• Industry certifications such as BICSI Installer, BICSI Technician, BICSI OSP, or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, implementation, and maintenance of SCS infrastructure.
• Support senior engineers in managing multiple projects, ensuring guidelines, timelines and budgets are met.
• Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to align designs with project requirements.
• Review construction progress and provide reports on compliance and efficiency.
• Evaluate end-user and facilities requests for feasibility, costs, and equipment needs.
• Develop procedures for installing, using, and troubleshooting telecommunications infrastructure.
• Gain exposure to network infrastructure and assist in designing solutions under supervision.
• Aid in cost estimation and value engineering for SCS capital projects.
• Support long-term facility planning to forecast infrastructure needs, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Communicate with vendors to gather product information and resolve maintenance issues.

Assists in the installation, implementation, and maintenance of SCS infrastructure to meet University requirements.

• Supports senior engineers in managing multiple projects, ensuring compliance with guidelines, timelines, and budgets.
• Learns to coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to ensure SCS designs align with project requirements.
• Reviews construction progress related to SCS installation and provides reports on compliance and efficiency.
• Assists in evaluating requests from end-users and facilities representatives for SCS services, determining feasibility, costs, and equipment requirements.
• Participates in the development of procedures for installing, using, and troubleshooting telecommunications infrastructure.
• Gains exposure to network infrastructure technologies and assists in designing networking solutions under supervision.
• Aids in cost estimation and value engineering recommendations for SCS capital projects.
• Assists in long-term facility planning to forecast telecommunication infrastructure needs, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Communicates with vendors to gather product information, resolve system maintenance issues, and ensure compatibility with University infrastructure.
• Performs additional technical and administrative duties as assigned.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $36.50/hr.
