Job summary

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, seeks a full-time Associate Medical Director to provide medical oversight for hospice patients across Broward County. The role includes leadership of medical direction for in-patient and field care and serving as a physician consultant for Palliative Care within the network.

The successful candidate will have an MD/DO, Florida license, and two years of direct clinical care; hospice certification and hospital privileges are preferred.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and board certification in a related specialty.
• Florida medical license to practice (Fla. 458/459).
• Minimum of two years’ active clinical care experience.
• Hospice and Palliative Medicine certification preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges at area facilities preferred.
• Federal DEA registration current.
• CPR certification required if patient-facing.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical oversight and leadership for hospice patients and families across Broward County.
• Oversee medical direction of care for hospice patients in in-patient and field settings.
• Serve as physician consultant for Palliative Care patients within Empath Health.
• Collaborate with APRN/RN to evaluate and manage pain and symptoms.
• Act as medical resource and educator to staff, patients, families and physicians.
• Ensure compliance with Florida Health requirements and regulatory standards; participate in IDG meetings.

Job description

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a full-time Associate Medical Director to provide medical oversight and leadership for hospice patients and their families across Broward County. The Associate Medical Director will oversee the medical direction of the care and treatment of Hospice patients, both in-patient and field, as well as serving as a physician consult for Palliative Care patients within the Empath Health. care.

What You’ll Do

• Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the APRN and/or RN to evaluate and initiate treatments for pain/symptom management. This is primarily completed through in person visits.
• Collaborates with the RN to create and implement the appropriate plan of care.
• Collaborates with the patient’s attending physician as needed to develop and update the patient’s plan of care, ensure the provision of direct medical services to ensure pain and symptom management.
• Serves as a medical resource and educator to staff, patients, families and attending physicians regarding admission criteria, pain and symptom control management, and end of life care.
• Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements. meetings as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.

What You’ll Need

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a related specialty.
• Current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ recent active practice with direct clinical medical care experience.
• Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges at one or more hospitals commonly serving patients in the service area strongly preferred.
• Current Federal DEA registration.
• Valid CPR Certification required if patient facing.
