Job summary

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a full-time Associate Medical Director to provide medical direction and guidance to Interdisciplinary Groups and ensure the medical component of care meets quality standards. The role involves collaboration with attending physicians, direct clinical care, and oversight of pain and symptom management across home and inpatient settings in Florida.

Qualifications

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current Florida license to practice medicine.
  • Minimum of one year recent active clinical care.
  • Board Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes Empath and Hospice Program mission, vision and values and follows policies.
  • Collaborates with the attending physician to develop and update the care plan and ensure pain and symptom management.
  • Serves as a medical resource and educator to hospice staff, patients, families and physicians on admission criteria and end-of-life care.
  • Adheres to Florida Department of Health requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Participates in IDG conferences with the Clinical Director and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provides symptom control expertise and coordinates treatments via telehealth, home, or inpatient visits.
  • Completes assessments of terminal diagnosis and evaluates eligibility for recertification using LDC criteria.

Trustbridge Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a full-time Associate Medical Director to provide medical direction and guidance to Interdisciplinary Groups and maintains responsibility for the direction and quality of the medical component of care rendered to the patient/family unit.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p

What you'll Do:

  • Promotes and practices the Empath and Hospice Program mission, vision and values and follows all policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with the patient’s attending physician as needed to develop and update the patient’s plan of care, ensure the provision of direct medical services and to ensure pain and symptom management.
  • Serves as a medical resource and educator to hospice staff, patients, families and attending physicians regarding admission criteria, pain and symptom control management and end of life issues hospice and palliative care.
  • Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.
  • Actively participates in IDG conferences as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.
  • Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the RNCM to initiate and evaluate treatments for pain/symptom management. Performs clinical visits via telehealth, as well as in the home or inpatient setting and provides regulatory visits to meet recertification requirements.
  • Completes ongoing assessments of the patient’s terminal diagnosis and accurately evaluates eligibility for recertification using the Local Coverage Determination (LDC) criteria.

What You'll Need:

  • M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a related specialty.
  • Current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459.
  • Minimum of one (1) year recent active practice with direct clinical medical care experience.
  • Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
  • Hospital staff privileges at one or more hospitals commonly serving patients in the service area strongly preferred.
  • Valid CPR Certification required if patient facing.
