Job summary

Hospice of Marion County, part of Empath Health, is seeking an Associate Medical Director to provide symptom control and lead medical care for end-of-life patients in Ocala, FL. The role collaborates with APRNs, RNs, and attending physicians to ensure comprehensive pain management and care plans.

Requires MD/DO, Florida license, and 2+ years of clinical practice; Palliative Medicine certification is preferred. CPR is required if patient-facing.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree and Board Certification in a related specialty.
• Current Florida medical license to practice.
• Minimum of two years of recent active clinical practice.
• Certification in Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges at hospitals serving the service area preferred.
• CPR certification required if patient facing.

Responsibilities

• Promotes Empath Health mission, vision and values and follows policies.
• Provides symptom control expertise and collaborates with APRN/RN on treatment for pain and symptoms.
• Collaborates with team members to create and implement the plan of care.
• Coordinates with the attending physician to develop/update the patient’s plan and ensure direct medical services.
• Serves as a medical resource and educator on admission criteria, pain control and end-of-life care.
• Adheres to Florida Dept of Health requirements and regulatory standards; participates in IDG meetings as assigned.

Hospice of Marion County, a part ofEmpath Healthis seeking a caring and motivated Associate Medical Director to join the Empath team.

What you'll Do:

• Promotes and practices the Empath Health mission, vision and values and follows all policies and procedures.
• Provides symptom control expertise and communicates with the APRN and/or RN to evaluate and initiate treatments for pain/symptom management. This is primarily completed through in person visits.
• Collaborates with team members, including other clinical staff members to create and implement the appropriate plan of care.
• Collaborates with the patient’s attending physician as needed to develop and update the patient’s plan of care, ensure the provision of direct medical services to ensure pain and symptom management.
• Serves as a medical resource and educator to staff, patients, families and attending physicians regarding admission criteria, pain and symptom control management, and end of life care.
• Adheres to the Florida Department of Health requirements, as well as legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements. meetings as assigned, collaborating closely with the Clinical Director and other disciplines with a team approach to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met.

What You'll Need

• M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school and Board Certified in a related specialty.
• Current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ recent active practice with direct clinical medical care experience.
• Certification in Palliative Medicine strongly preferred.
• Hospital staff privileges at one or more hospitals commonly serving patients in the service area strongly preferred.
• Valid CPR Certification required if patient facing.
