Job summary

Jobtailor in Utah is seeking a skilled hardware design engineer to join the Sentinel Program's Command Systems Hardware Design Integration team. You will collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and hardware engineers to design robust hardware components and assemblies, applying ASME processes to meet decomposed requirements and architecture diagrams for critical reviews.

Ideal candidates will have experience deriving hardware-level requirements, creating 3D models, and producing PLM

Qualifications

  • Active U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance is required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period.
  • Experience with CAD modeling using Siemens NX or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and engineering software.
  • Experience resolving technical issues and providing support.
  • Capable of working under general supervision and in team environments.
  • Experience deriving hardware-level requirements from interfaces and performance criteria.
  • Experience designing and generating control drawings and assemblies using commercial hardware.
  • Experience developing hardware design materials for program design reviews.
  • Experience conducting design reviews as design author and briefing to leadership.
  • Understanding of structural analysis concepts for mechanical design.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Sentinel Program's Command Systems Hardware Design Integration team.

  • Assist in integrated assemblies design aligned with requirements and diagrams for design reviews.
  • Create design artifacts including 3D models and product definitions for PLM release.
  • Capture inputs from a multi-disciplinary engineering environment including Systems and Design teams.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Support the Sentinel Program's Command Systems Hardware Design Integration team.
  • Join a team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Hardware Integration engineers to design hardware systems and components.
  • Apply ASME standard processes and procedures to identify, design, and procure electrical and mechanical hardware.
  • Support design of integrated assemblies in accordance with decomposed requirements, compliance documents, and architecture diagrams in order to support the Sentinel critical design review campaign.
  • Assist in trade studies, Analysis of Alternatives, and create design artifacts to include 3‑dimensional models and product definition packages which will be documented and released using Siemens‑based Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and modeling (NX) tools.
  • Operate in and capture inputs from a multi‑disciplinary engineering environment consisting of Systems, Software, Design, Compliance, and Hardware engineers.
Requirements
  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business need.
  • Experience performing CAD modeling with design tools such as Siemens NX or similar.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering software.
  • Experience resolving issues and providing technical support.
  • Capable of working under general supervision and in team environments.
  • Experience deriving hardware‑level requirements from interface, compliance, and performance requirements.
  • Experience designing and generating control drawings and assemblies of systems using commercially‑sourced hardware components.
  • Experience developing hardware design materials in support of program design reviews for review with team technical leads and program stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting design reviews as the design author and briefing solution designs to program leadership and stakeholders for release into product baseline.
  • Understanding of structural analysis concerns as applied to designing mechanical systems.
  • Teamcenter CPLM experience.
  • Experience using the electrical workbench within NX or similar CAD software for cable routing purposes.
