Job summary

QinetiQ US is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to sustain and improve manufacturing processes, design work cell layouts, and improve throughput. You will troubleshoot production issues, support non-routine service contracts, and contribute to pre-production builds for process development.

The role covers maritime systems, unmanned vehicles, and protective platforms, requiring hands-on engineering, problem-solving, and documentation skills with the potential for a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Proven ability practically and logically to solve problems.
• Ability to self-manage in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment with minimal oversight.
• Strong technical writing skills are required.
• Hands-on experience is expected.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance if required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes.
• Plans production line layouts for maximum efficiency including workflow, equipment location, material handling, and space requirements.
• Recommends and provides guidance to supervisors on staffing balance with current operations.
• Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
• Applies technical knowledge to innovate and improve processes, tooling, and fixtures.
• Supports builds in an AS9100 environment to ensure controlled features throughout production.
• Collaborates with multiple departments and outside contract manufacturers.
• Interfaces with planning/design to ensure efficient production methods.
• Coordinates with vendors to determine product specifications and procure equipment/materials.
• Estimates production times, staffing needs, and related costs for management decisions.
• Communicates with management on capabilities and schedules to facilitate production.
• Identifies opportunities to reduce costs via fabrication/process improvements.
• Develops and validates manufacturing processes and documentation.
• Performs data analysis to outline systemic improvement opportunities.
• Supports resolution of non-conformances including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
