Allison Transmission in Indianapolis, IN seeks an Associate Manufacturing Engineer to develop and optimize manufacturing processes, design tooling, and support new product launches. The role emphasizes quality, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement across production lines.

The position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and hands-on experience with grinding, turning, and machining centers.

Qualifications

• High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of tooling, manufacturing process, and manufacturing equipment.
• High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
• Understanding of machine and manufacturing processes.
• Experience in part processing using various grinding, turning, machining center equipment.
• Project management experience with regard to machine procurement, cost analysis, and process validation.
• Direct manufacturing experience with rotating and reciprocating components, gears, and/or prismatic parts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development of manufacturing systems with a focus on continuous improvement related to quality and throughput capability of production equipment.
• Direct the design, development, and/or improvement of manufacturing processes.
• Study product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.
• Apply knowledge of product design fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
• Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards.
