Job summary

Jobtailor in New York is seeking a senior software engineering leader to guide a team of engineers and align delivery with business priorities. You will drive end-to-end development of scalable applications, partner with Product, QA, and stakeholders to define requirements, and oversee design, testing, and deployment.

The role emphasizes engineering best practices, CI/CD, and documentation, with a focus on improving efficiency, performance, and product quality.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of software development experience, with at least 1–2 years in a leadership or mentoring capacity
Strong hands-on experience with modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, or similar)
Experience building and maintaining enterprise-level, scalable applications
Experience building and scaling technology platforms within the fund of hedge funds or alternative investments space strongly preferred
Strong domain expertise in investment systems, risk platforms, data architecture, and workflow automation
Proven track record of driving operational efficiency and platform scalability within investment management environments
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern software development practices
Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and CI/CD pipelines preferred
Strong understanding of system design, architecture, and software engineering principles
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Proven ability to balance technical contributions with people leadership responsibilities
Self-starter mindset with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
