Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere—on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it’s no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

We are looking for an exceptional employment lawyer to join our growing Employment legal team. The successful candidate will be the second AMER based employment lawyer at MongoDB!

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and isn't afraid of lofty goals and challenges. To succeed in this position, you must be able to work independently and efficiently. This is a unique opportunity to join a growing legal team and work on cutting edge issues in an exciting and fast-paced environment. MongoDB is growing rapidly, and every person we hire has the opportunity to help shape the business and grow with the company. We also make sure to have fun while we resolve issues.

This is a full-time remote or hybrid position that will be based in the United States.

Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and support to our Employee Experience team, HR Business Partners and the business on a broad range of employment issues across AMER (currently Canada, U.S., Mexico, and Brazil) including hiring, terminations, performance management, leaves of absence, investigations, accommodations, reorganisations, and other employment-related matters.
  • Collaborate with other lawyers on the team with respect to advice and counselling provided to HR and other cross-functional partners.
  • Work on employment related projects, including internal process reviews, new policy roll-outs and implementation, and training programs.
  • Draft and edit employment-related documents, correspondence, agreements, processes and policies.
  • Manage legal risks and provide solutions for resolving employment disputes.
  • Provide support and strategic advice on employment litigation matters.
  • Participate in the creation and delivery of training related to employment law matters.
  • Keep up to date with legislative changes and other employment law developments and advise stakeholders on legal changes and developments.
  • Build and manage relationships with external counsel.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in U.S. employment law, experience in Canada and/or LATAM is a plus.
  • Proven record of success at a top law firm. Prior in-house experience is not a prerequisite.
  • Smart, passionate and driven.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Enjoy working hard in a fast-paced environment and overcoming challenges.
  • Great leadership and teamwork skills and willingness to take on new responsibilities.
  • Experience advancing projects in a multi-stakeholder environment and handling and prioritising multiple projects.

To drive the personal growth and business impact of our employees, we’re committed to developing a supportive and enriching culture for everyone. From employee affinity groups, to fertility assistance and a generous parental leave policy, we value our employees’ wellbeing and want to support them along every step of their professional and personal journeys.
