Job description

Our client, a wholesale apparel manufacturing brand, is seeking an Associate Kidswear Designer to join their team in New York!

Responsibilities

• Support the design and development of seasonal kids apparel collections from initial concept through final production
• Assist in creating flat sketches, CADs, and design presentations that align with brand direction and target customer
• Conduct trend research, market analysis, and competitive shopping to inform seasonal design direction
• Partner with design and merchandising teams to ensure product aligns with assortment needs and pricing targets
• Help build and maintain tech packs, including construction details, measurements, and fabric information
• Collaborate with production and technical design teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective
• Participate in fittings, taking notes and assisting with revisions to achieve proper fit and quality standards
• Assist in sourcing fabrics, trims, and color development in partnership with vendors and internal teams
• Support the preparation of internal presentations, line reviews, and seasonal meetings
• Stay current on kidswear trends, fabrications, and techniques to contribute fresh ideas

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or related field
• 2+ years of experience in apparel design, preferably within kidswear
• Strong understanding of garment construction, color, and fabrications
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with PLM systems is a plus
• Strong sketching and technical drawing abilities
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills across cross-functional teams
• Passion for kids apparel and a strong eye for trend and product development

$65k-80k depending on experience

Full time in office.
