Job description

Associate, Investments & Strategic Finance | Megafund-Backed Power & Energy Infrastructure Platform | Denver, CO

We're retained by a leading megafund-backed power & energy infrastructure platform to hire an Associate within its Investments & Strategic Finance team.

About the Platform

The platform is a private equity-backed power & energy infrastructure business building large-scale power generation and infrastructure solutions for hyperscale data centers and other large-load, energy-intensive customers.

Held within one of the world's largest alternative asset managers' infrastructure funds, this is not a traditional corporate finance or capital markets seat — it is effectively a private equity and development role, deploying institutional capital directly into infrastructure projects across the U.S.

The active project pipeline exceeds $20B and includes a 1.8GW gas-to-power development initiative with a major hyperscale infrastructure partner to serve data center demand. Backed by its sponsor's capital and scale, the platform is rapidly building out dedicated power and infrastructure solutions to meet accelerating AI-driven demand.

The platform occupies a unique position in the market — both an operator of mission-critical energy infrastructure and an active developer and capital deployer into next-generation transition and power infrastructure assets.

The Team

The team functions as an in-house PE and project development group — not a financing intermediary — and touches every major strategic initiative across the platform.

The Role

A highly entrepreneurial investing and development role, offering true end-to-end exposure — origination through execution and ongoing asset management — rather than siloed transactional work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating and underwriting new thermal power generation investments — primarily large-scale gas-fired generation — developed to serve data center and other large-load, energy-intensive customers, alongside midstream, gas-to-power, and carbon capture opportunities
  • Building and reviewing project finance and investment models for gas-fired power generation, with additional exposure to midstream and carbon capture (CCS) assets
  • Assessing generation-side fundamentals for new build thermal assets, including plant economics, fuel supply and gas transportation arrangements, interconnection, and offtake structuring
  • Supporting capital raises, structuring term sheets, and lender/investor engagement across all projects
  • Working directly with the sponsor on capital structure, diligence, and investment approval
  • Supporting the structuring and negotiation of project-level financing and commercial agreements, including power and capacity offtake arrangements
  • Participating in negotiations across complex, large-scale thermal generation, midstream, and infrastructure development projects
  • Partnering across engineering, commercial, and corporate teams to evaluate capital deployment across the full investment lifecycle, from origination through to operating asset optimization
Candidate Profile
  • 2–5 years of experience across energy & infrastructure investment banking, private equity, or infrastructure development
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation capabilities, including project finance and corporate models
  • Experience supporting complex transactions, capital raises, or infrastructure investment opportunities
  • Understanding of infrastructure investing, project finance, and development-stage assets
  • Interest in power generation, digital infrastructure, energy transition, and AI-driven power demand
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate in a lean, high-ownership deal environment
