Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate investment opportunities across solar, battery storage, distributed generation, power infrastructure, and broader renewable energy markets.
  • Build and maintain detailed project finance and corporate financial models, including operating forecasts, debt structures, tax equity, returns analysis, sensitivities, and scenarios.
  • Analyze project economics, including power prices, PPA structures, merchant exposure, capacity factors, production assumptions, operating costs, interconnection costs, and capex.
  • Conduct financial, commercial, market, technical, legal, and regulatory due diligence on prospective investments.
  • Develop investment analyses and investment committee materials, articulating risks, opportunities, valuation, and returns.
  • Perform valuation analyses using DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions, IRRs, equity multiples, etc.
  • Research energy markets, regulatory developments, tech trends, competition, and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with management teams, developers, lenders, investment banks, consultants, and external advisors.
  • Support transaction execution, including due diligence coordination, financing analysis, term sheet evaluation, documentation, and closing.
  • Monitor portfolio investments and assist with quarterly valuations, performance analysis, refinancing, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.

About the Role

Our PE client is seeking an Investment Associate to join their investment team and focus on opportunities across the energy, solar, and renewable infrastructure sectors. The Associate will play a key role in evaluating new investments, conducting financial and commercial due diligence, building investment models, and supporting the execution and management of portfolio investments.

This is a highly analytical, transaction-oriented role for an individual who is passionate about investing in the energy transition and interested in working at a buy-side investment firm with significant responsibility across the investment lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate investment opportunities across solar, battery storage, distributed generation, power infrastructure, and broader renewable energy markets.
  • Build and maintain detailed project finance and corporate financial models, including operating forecasts, debt structures, tax equity, returns analysis, sensitivities, and scenario analyses.
  • Analyze project economics, including power prices, PPA structures, merchant exposure, capacity factors, production assumptions, operating costs, interconnection costs, and capital expenditures.
  • Conduct financial, commercial, market, technical, legal, and regulatory due diligence on prospective investments.
  • Develop detailed investment analyses and investment committee materials, clearly articulating key risks, opportunities, valuation, and expected returns.
  • Perform valuation analyses using DCF, comparable companies, precedent transactions, project-level IRRs, equity multiples, and other relevant methodologies.
  • Research energy markets, regulatory developments, technology trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging investment opportunities.
  • Work closely with management teams, developers, lenders, investment banks, consultants, technical advisors, and other external stakeholders throughout the investment process.
  • Support transaction execution, including due diligence coordination, financing analysis, term sheet evaluation, documentation, and closing processes.
  • Monitor existing portfolio investments and assist with quarterly valuations, operating performance analysis, refinancing, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and evaluate new investment themes within the evolving energy transition, including utility-scale solar, distributed solar, storage, grid infrastructure, electrification, and other emerging technologies.
  • Contribute to sourcing efforts by developing relationships with developers, sponsors, intermediaries, industry executives, and other market participants.
Qualifications
  • 2–5 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, infrastructure investing, project finance or energy investing.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in energy, power, renewables, infrastructure, or project finance.
