Job summary

You will draft motions, respond to RFEs/NOIDs, prepare clients for interviews and hearings, and collaborate with a supportive team while building your practice in a growing firm.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar license.
  • Entry-level and experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong legal writing, research, analytical, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration matters from consultation through resolution.
  • Develop legal strategies tailored to each client's circumstances.
  • Handle family-based immigration, removal defense, and related matters.
  • Draft motions, briefs, memoranda, and filings before USCIS and courts.
  • Analyze RFEs, NOIDs, and case denials; respond as needed.
  • Prepare motions to reopen/reconsider, appeals, and post-decision filings.
  • Prepare clients for USCIS interviews and immigration court hearings.
  • Conduct legal research and stay current on immigration developments.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, legal assistants, and client relations staff.
  • Maintain organized case files and detailed notes in case-management systems.
  • Provide clear communication, guidance, and advocacy throughout cases.

De Mott, Curtright & Armendáriz, LLP (DMCA) is seeking an Associate Attorney to support our growing Houston office, with a focus on family-based immigration and immigration litigation. This hybrid position is open to both entry-level and experienced attorneys and offers a combination of in-office and remote work.

Whether you are newly licensed, transitioning into immigration law, or an experienced immigration attorney looking for your next opportunity, this position offers meaningful, hands‑on work in a collaborative and supportive environment.

At DMCA, we provide mentorship and training to attorneys beginning their careers while giving experienced attorneys the autonomy and resources needed to manage complex matters successfully. You will have the opportunity to develop legal strategies, draft motions and briefs, respond to Requests for Evidence and denials, prepare clients for interviews and hearings, and advocate for clients before USCIS and the immigration courts.

What You'll Do

  • Provide clients with clear communication, guidance, and advocacy throughout their cases.
Qualifications

  • Active bar license in any U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Entry‑level and experienced attorneys are encouraged to apply.

  • Immigration law experience is preferred but not required. Experience in family‑based immigration, removal defense, or federal litigation is especially valued.
  • Must be located in or willing to relocate to the Houston area and able to work in the Houston office as required under the hybrid schedule.
