Job summary

Cipriani & Werner P.C., a multidisciplinary law firm, seeks a General Liability Associate Attorney in Mount Laurel, NJ to join our growing team. The role encompasses civil litigation from pleadings to trial, with hybrid work arrangements.

Applicants must hold a JD from an ABA-approved school and be admitted to the New Jersey bar; 3–5 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense, is required. Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Experience handling all phases of litigation (pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, trial prep).

The Mount Laurel Office in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey is looking for a General Liability Associate Attorney to join our growing team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Evaluate new files.
• Client communications.
• Discovery production.
• Research and prepare legal memoranda on various areas of law.
• Prepare and argue discovery.
• Substantive, dispositive pre- and post-trial motions and appeals.
• Attend pretrial listings.
• Motions and trial.

Position Requirements:

• Must have a JD degree from an ABA-approved law school and maintain an active license in good standing in New Jersey.
• 3-5 years of civil litigation experience required; insurance defense experience strongly preferred.
• Experience handling all phases of litigation, including pleadings, written discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, trial preparation, and developing litigation strategy.
• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload, prioritize multiple deadlines, and provide timely reporting while meeting court and client expectations.
• Strong legal research, analytical, writing, oral advocacy, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, including experience preparing dispositive motions, discovery motions, and settlement evaluations.
• Experience communicating effectively with insurance carriers, claims professionals, clients, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses, while delivering exceptional client service.
• Familiarity with state and federal court rules and proficiency with legal research platforms, Microsoft Office, and case management/timekeeping software.
• Trial, arbitration, or evidentiary hearing experience is a plus. Must be a self-motivated, organized team player who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

This is a hybrid position.

The salary for this position includes, but is not limited to, a range of $100,000-$120,000 and represents C&W’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend upon a number of factors, included but not limited to experience and qualifications.
