Job summary

Range is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its mission-driven fintech team, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. This role will own contract review and negotiation, partner with compliance on regulatory matters, and support corporate transactions in an investment adviser and broker-dealer environment.

The ideal candidate holds a JD, active bar membership (VA, DC, or MD preferred), and in-house experience in technology or financial services.

Range is seeking an Associate General Counsel to join its mission-driven team dedicated to redefining wealth management. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape the legal foundation of a fast-growing fintech, working at the intersection of technology and financial services.

Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, the Associate General Counsel will serve as the primary legal partner for business teams, handling a broad spectrum of legal matters including contracts, transactional work, and regulatory issues. This role offers end-to-end ownership of contract review and negotiation, close collaboration with compliance on regulatory questions, and support for corporate transactions in an investment adviser and broker-dealer environment. The position provides direct exposure to executive leadership and the full range of legal challenges faced by a modern fintech.

Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, building contract templates and playbooks, partnering with compliance on regulatory matters, supporting responses to regulatory inquiries, and advising cross-functional teams in clear, practical language. The role also involves supporting financings, strategic partnerships, M&A diligence, and helping to shape Range’s response to evolving legal and regulatory developments. Building internal training resources and managing outside counsel on specialized matters are also core aspects of the position.

The ideal candidate brings a JD from an accredited law school, active bar membership (VA, DC, or MD preferred), and in-house legal experience within technology, financial services, or fintech. A strong background in corporate/transactional or regulatory law, proven ability to independently manage commercial agreements, and excellent communication skills are essential. Comfort with a dynamic, fast-paced environment and a willingness to engage deeply with regulatory frameworks will set candidates apart.
