Job summary

Range is seeking an Associate General Counsel to oversee a broad set of legal issues, including contracts, regulatory matters, and transactional work. Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, you will own contract review end to end and partner with Compliance on regulatory questions in a fintech environment.

This builder role at Range’s HQ in McLean, VA offers day-one responsibility with a direct line to the executive team and an in-office schedule Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (VA, DC, or MD preferred, or eligibility to register as in-house counsel).
• 3+ years of post-JD experience, including time in-house at a technology company, financial services firm, or fintech organization.
• Corporate/transactional or regulatory background, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house experience.
• Proven ability to draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements independently and at volume.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, revise, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor, SaaS and technology, and NDAs.
• Move contracts through the full lifecycle, and build templates and playbooks for faster scaling.
• Partner with compliance on regulatory matters affecting investment adviser and broker-dealer businesses.
• Support the Chief Legal Officer on responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations.
• Be a responsive, plain-English legal resource to product, engineering, finance, sales, marketing, and operations.
• Support corporate and transactional work alongside the Chief Legal Officer including financings, strategic partnerships, M&A diligence, board resolutions, and equity documentation.
• Work with product and engineering to surface legal and regulatory considerations early on new products and platform capabilities.
• Track legal and regulatory developments across fintech and wealth management, and help shape Range's response.
• Build internal training and self-service resources so business teams know when to bring Legal in.
