Job summary

SCAN Group seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel, Healthcare to serve as the primary legal counsel for its care delivery organizations. This role provides strategic, regulatory, and contracting guidance across operations, physician arrangements, and value-based care programs.

The ideal candidate has a JD from a top-tier ABA-accredited school, California Bar eligibility/RIHC, and at least 8 years in healthcare law—preferably with a mix of top-tier firm and in-house experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from a top-tier ABA-accredited law school.
• Active California State Bar membership or eligibility to practice as RIHC.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant legal experience at a top-tier law firm or similar.
• Significant experience advising healthcare providers, medical groups, and care-delivery entities.
• Strong knowledge of physician contracting, corporate practice of medicine, fee-splitting, and provider compensation laws.
• Solid understanding of federal and state healthcare regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary legal counsel and strategic advisor to SCAN's care delivery organizations.
• Provide guidance on operational, regulatory, contracting, governance, and strategic matters; coordinate with the Legal Department.
• Advise on medical group operations, physician contracting, professional services arrangements, and related compliance issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of contracts (provider, payer, value-based care, vendor, etc.).
• Oversee outside counsel, manage case strategy, and control legal spend for cost-effective results.
• Monitor market trends and anticipate regulatory changes affecting operations.
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to support SCAN's mission and care delivery goals.
