Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is hiring an Associate Full Stack Software Engineer to modernize platform architectures by building scalable microservices, API-driven workflows, and cloud-native solutions on AWS. You will create robust ETL pipelines, automate development processes, and integrate AI capabilities within an Agile team.

You can telecommute from anywhere in the U.S., with responsibilities spanning design, development, testing, deployment, and production support to improve health tech platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/IT or engineering field is required or equivalent.
• 1+ years of SDLC experience from design to production support.
• 1+ years of cloud-based microservices and API architectures using Python or Java.
• 1 year of front-end tech using Node.js, TypeScript or React.
• 1 year of ETL design and management using Actian Data Connect or enterprise tools.
• 1 year of experience with Azure or AWS cloud platforms (Lambda, S3, EC2, ECS, RDS).
• 1 year of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing (unit/integration/functional).
• 1 year in an Agile/Scrum development framework.
• 6+ months of experience integrating AI technologies (AI/ML APIs, cognitive search, LLM integrations).
• Ability to participate in on-call rotations and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain microservices and API-driven apps using Python, Java, Node.js, TypeScript or React.
• Build and optimize enterprise ETL data pipelines with Actian Data Connect or similar tools.
• Develop and deploy AI-powered features and automations.
• Leverage AI tools and automation patterns to streamline workflows and reduce manual tasks.
• Evaluate trends to inform platform modernization and architectural decisions.
• Architect and deploy cloud-native apps on AWS/AZURE.
• Establish and optimize CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
• Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum team across the SDLC including production support.
