The Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Associate or Full Professor in Entrepreneurship beginning in Fall 2027. We seek an accomplished teacher-scholar who understands entrepreneurship as the creation, growth, and renewal of business. Our interests extend beyond new venture formation to include accelerating the growth of small and midsize enterprises, scaling established businesses, entrepreneurship through acquisition, and developing new opportunities within existing organizations. We are particularly interested in candidates who can connect rigorous academic thinking with the practical challenges of growing revenues, improving profitability, building organizational capabilities, and sustaining competitive advantage. The Crummer School teaches MBA students only, and we only hire experienced faculty, many of whom have won teaching awards and have demonstrated connections to industry practice prior to joining Crummer. The successful candidate will enjoy teaching MBAs, aspire to expand and develop top-tier graduate teaching skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to best practices in teaching MBA students in-person and in blended formats that incorporate online learning.
Teaching will focus primarily on graduate courses in entrepreneurship across Crummer’s four MBA programs: Early Advantage MBA (EAMBA – full-time students), Accelerated MBA (AMBA – full-time students with a STEM focus), Professional MBA (evening part-time students), and Executive MBA (primarily weekend students with substantial prior experience). We offer students the opportunity to gain an Entrepreneurship Concentration, and we also offer a Graduate Certificate in Entrepreneurship. Given the array of different programs mentioned above, our student body at Crummer includes varying ages and levels of experience, ranging from recent college graduates to senior executives. Our students rightfully expect much of us, and we encourage them to challenge and stimulate us as much as we do them.
A defining feature of entrepreneurship at Crummer is our engagement with the Central Florida business community. We view entrepreneurship as a driver of business formation, expansion, and regional economic development. Our faculty and students engage with entrepreneurs, business owners, family enterprises, growth-oriented small and midsize companies, and established organizations pursuing new opportunities. Through applied projects, consulting, mentoring, and executive education, we seek to help businesses address real challenges in strategy, marketing, finance, operations, technology adoption, and organizational growth.
For this position, we are particularly interested in someone who can successfully guide students toward a deep understanding of both the analytical processes that go into entrepreneurial businesses and the judgment required to frame meaningful business problems, evaluate data and analytical outputs, recognize limitations and uncertainties, and translate the analyses into sound managerial decisions and strategy-making.
The Crummer School places high value on faculty who can work effectively with organizations, managers, and executives. The willingness and ability to consult with companies, understand real business problems and opportunities, and design and deliver high-quality executive education is important. Our entrepreneurship faculty engage with business owners, entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and professional advisers across businesses at different stages of development. These relationships create opportunities for student consulting projects, business growth initiatives, mentorship, executive education, and applied learning that addresses real organizational challenges.
We seek a colleague who combines academic strength with genuine expert engagement in entrepreneurship. Thus, the successful candidate will be someone who wants to work closely with students, remain connected to business theory and practice, engage credibly with managers and executives, collaborate with colleagues, and take shared responsibility for the quality and reputation of the School. In addition, of course scholarship remains an important part of the role. Faculty are expected to maintain an active research agenda and a record of peer-reviewed scholarship consistent with Crummer’s faculty bylaws and AACSB expectations for a graduate school of business.
In terms of faculty service, key elements include faculty governance, curriculum and program development, admissions and recruitment, and other work that contributes to the effective operation and continued development of the School. As a relatively small graduate business school (we currently have 18 full-time faculty members), we value faculty who themselves fully embrace the worth of being a good institutional citizen and steward of Crummer and Rollins College. We do not have departments within the Crummer School and we highly value collaboration among faculty across the various business disciplines, as well as with our staff members. Within the Crummer culture, we are nimble and operate with little bureaucracy.
Crummer is a graduate business school in which teaching and student development are the largest part of the faculty role. Faculty responsibilities are approximately 50 percent teaching and student development, 30 percent scholarship, and 20 percent service and institutional stewardship. The standard teaching load is 15 credits per year. At Crummer, teaching means more than in-classroom hours and course delivery. We expect faculty to know their students, understand their aspirations, advise and mentor them, and help them connect what they learn directly to their professional development. Engagement with businesses is an important part of that work. Faculty who consult with companies, teach executives, and maintain strong relationships with managers and business leaders bring current problems, opportunities, and perspectives back into the classroom. These relationships frequently also create experiential learning opportunities, strengthen curriculum, and help students connect more effectively to the world of practice.
The successful candidate for Full/Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship will step into an already active entrepreneurship program with a long and successful history at Crummer. The new colleague will also have the opportunity to help shape how Crummer teaches entrepreneurship and innovation in today’s rapidly changing environment, develop new courses and learning experiences, work across disciplines, engage with companies, contribute to executive education, and build connections with Central Florida’s incredibly vibrant business community. They will be supported by faculty colleagues teaching related topics such as design thinking, data analytics, and all of the traditional functional areas of business.
