Job description

Position Summary:

The Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida offers a unique opportunity to qualified applicants with expertise in corporate finance and/or investments. If you share our passion for outstanding teaching, consider joining our faculty as an Associate/Full Professor of Finance in Fall 2027. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Finance from an AACSB-accredited school. A professional certification (i.e., CFA) is desirable. We hire experienced faculty, many of whom have won teaching awards before joining Crummer. If you enjoy teaching and aspire to expand your teaching skills, this is the position for you. A successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching MBA students in both traditional and blended formats and have at least four years of teaching experience at an AACSB-accredited school.

At Crummer, you will have the opportunity to teach students with varying ages and levels of experience, ranging from recent college graduates to senior executives. Our students demand much of us; they challenge and stimulate us as much as we do them. Crummer faculty are all dedicated to providing our students with an integrated, experiential educational environment. As a result, we have tremendous collaboration among the various disciplines. We are nimble and operate with little bureaucracy. All new Crummer faculty come without tenure and have three to four years to qualify for tenure based on teaching, research, and service.

  • Teaching: To be successful at Crummer, you must be dedicated to great teaching. Crummer School faculty members take great pride in their teaching. We attract outstanding students who are motivated, eager to learn, and deeply engaged in our programs. We are looking for faculty who have already won teaching awards, especially at the MBA level. Fifty percent of your annual performance at Crummer will come from your teaching, as evaluated by colleagues and students. Finance faculty must teach the core finance course in the MBA program, as well as electives that match their background. Crummer faculty are encouraged to develop elective courses that bring their research interests and professional experiences into the classroom.
  • Research: The Crummer faculty recognize that a broad range of research contributes to management practice. Thirty percent of your annual performance evaluation will come from your research at Crummer. Our faculty handbook spells out the exact requirements.
  • Service: Crummer has 18 faculty members who collaborate between and among various disciplines. The remaining twenty percent of your annual performance evaluation is based on your service activities. We practice faculty governance without rancor and most of our decisions are unanimous. You will find collegiality one of the best parts of life at Crummer.

Because we are unique, the Crummer School is not for everyone. If you are just starting your academic career, Crummer is not for you. If teaching is your primary motivation, you will likely find a good fit at Crummer. We are looking for a candidate who has already made a significant mark in research and is ready to transition to a program that truly does emphasize teaching. We also value practical professional experience as well as prior engagements with executives through teaching and/or consulting. Crummer is a great place to work—great students, wonderful colleagues, and a stimulating intellectual climate. We are an AACSB accredited, nationally ranked MBA-only graduate business school attached to a highly ranked undergraduate liberal arts college.
