Job summary

IU Health West Hospital is seeking a part-time, rotating-shift Nutrition Services teammate to support patient meals and related services on site. In this role you will prep, plate, serve, and transport meals and supplies, helping deliver a high level of patient and family satisfaction while maintaining safety and infection control practices.

No prior experience is required, but you must be able to operate kitchen equipment, wear PPE, and meet health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must wear protective clothing and PPE as required by regulations.
• Able to climb ladders and stand for long periods.
• Physical tasks include lifting up to 80 lbs and moving supplies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares, plates, serves, and transports food and supplies to patients and visitors.
• Ensures timely, accurate, and courteous service.
• Maintains sanitation, cleaning, and infection control for food safety.
• Operates kitchen equipment and related computer systems.

Schedule: Part Time Rotating Shift (Supplemental hours - 0-24 hours, may vary at the needs of the department).

Work Location: West Hospital (Onsite)

Department Supported: Nutrition Services

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepares, plates, serves, and transports food and supplies to provide a high level of satisfaction for patients, family members, physicians, team members, and the public.
• Responsible for timely, accurate, and courteous service.
• Responsible for associated sanitation, cleaning, and infection control practices to ensure food safety.
• Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.

Candidate Requirements:

• No experience is required.
• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.

Candidate Preferred:

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• Prior food service experience is preferred.
