The Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) seeks a full-time Associate Fire Protection Inspector Level II for the Bureau of Fire Prevention, Suppression Unit. Reporting directly to an assigned Deputy Chief Inspector, the Supervising Inspector Level II is responsible for supervising and training all lower-level Inspectors within their command. Key responsibilities include reviewing all work performed by field Inspectors, covering and witnessing suppression testing when a subordinate Inspector is on leave, and conducting field performance evaluations and audits of inspections performed within the Suppression Unit. The Supervising Inspector Level II will also serve as Acting Deputy Chief Inspector during the Deputy Chief Inspector’s absence (medical, annual, or other leave), including approving CityTime,completing evaluations as required, and enforcing Inspector rules such as attendance and Code of Conduct compliance.
A Motor Vehicle Driver's License valid in the State of New York.
Strong knowledge of Fire Suppression inspections and operational practices. At least five (5) years of previous experience performing standpipe and sprinkler testing, PFE facility inspections, auditing field Inspectors work. Excellent written and verbal communications skills,strong computer skills especially with the FIRES/ACCELA application.
