Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Field Service Technician is responsible for maintaining retail store technologies and computer systems and peripherals within retail store and commercial business environments. They perform product installation, support services, and repair on Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions and non-TOSHIBA retail products, including store systems, retail banking, and SMB marketplaces (e.g., apparel stores, supermarkets, mass merchandising, specialty shops, banks, local insurance agents, CPAs, legal firms). The technician is accountable for customer satisfaction, metrics attainment, and operational activities related to the services provided. Services include product and component exchange, basic diagnosis, repair, refurbishment, installation, relocation, upgrades, and modifications, following established documentation and procedures. The candidate will work under supervision until trained to work independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Operate within assigned territory, perform basic repairs and services, diagnose problems using established procedures, and assist with difficult repairs as needed. Work individually or as part of a team.
  2. Travel within territory or nationally for installations, relocations, upgrades, and modifications to retail POS equipment.
  3. Communicate effectively with customers, management, and team members regarding work status, issues, and customer satisfaction. Build positive relationships with end-users and store management.
  4. Manage situations to complete service events efficiently, meeting customer commitments and minimizing operational disruptions.
  5. Plan, prioritize, and schedule work with assistance, respond to schedule changes, and work flexible hours including overtime and weekends.
  6. Document installation activities accurately using automated systems and reports, including travel, call, mileage, time, and expenses.
  7. Maintain and manage trunk stock to support customer needs.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Travel to multiple customer locations daily.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing/Walking for 75% of the workday.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting activities.
  • Use of hand tools and possibly ladders or lifts.
  • Regular air travel may be required.
AREAS OF EXPERTISE & SKILLS:
  • High School Diploma with 2+ years in Electronics or related field.
  • Willingness to travel 100%, including domestic and air travel.
  • Basic knowledge of PC technology, network infrastructure, retail devices, and related technologies.
  • Mechanical aptitude, familiarity with electricity & electronics, and use of test equipment and hand tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and communicate clearly.
  • Strong customer service, multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to recognize and diagnose issues with IT signal and power cables and low voltage wiring.
  • Self-motivated, ethical, professional demeanor, and flexible to work long hours and varying shifts.
