The American College of Physicians (ACP) is looking to hire an Associate in its Center for Ethics and Professionalism department. ACP, a national organization of internal medicine physicians with headquarters in Philadelphia, is the largest medical specialty organization and the second-largest physician group in the United States with 163,000 members worldwide. This is a hybrid position with 2 days per week in either the Philadelphia or Washington,DC office required.

Reporting to the Chief Advocacy Officer, the Associate’s primary responsibilities will include:

• Assisting in the development of ACP ethics, professionalism, and human rights position papers and case studies, including research, analysis, and writing
• Serving as staff liaison to the Ethics, Professionalism, and Human Rights Committee, including meeting preparation and logistical support, and management of committee work and projects
• Overseeing the review and coordination of ACP Board of Governors and American Medical Association House of Delegates resolutions based on College ethics policy, including assigned committee follow-up
• Developing a strategy and associated content for ethics, professionalism, and human rights educational programming to be disseminated to physicians, trainees, and students
• Preparing summaries of current developments on ethics, professionalism, and human rights issues for targeted ACP audiences

Position Requirements:

• A bachelor’s degree in a clinical or bioethics discipline is required, with at least five years of related experience. A Master’s degree or PhD is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to research, analyze, compile, and present complex information for a variety of audiences
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects concurrently and meeting deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, enabling effective interaction with College staff, leadership, members, government agencies, medical societies, and other stakeholders
