Job summary

Layton Construction in Phoenix is seeking an Associate Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects and support project teams in all estimating tasks. You will read contracts, perform quantity take-offs, price information, and help with bid proposals.

The role requires a Civil Eng/CM degree (or equivalent) and knowledge of estimating software such as Destini Estimator, BlueBeam, Assemble, On Screen Take-off, and Microsoft Office; Revit and Primavera are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Preferred working knowledge of Destini Estimator software, BlueBeam, Assemble, and other latest software and technology.
• Preferred working knowledge of On Screen Take-off
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Work, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Appropriate knowledge of construction practices and methods.
• Working knowledge of Revit and Primavera systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Assists other in preparing estimates for potential projects, using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in such areas as general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with the preparation of bid proposal for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff members with various special projects related to estimating.
