Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Associate Estimator to prepare estimates for diverse projects, collaborate with project teams to ensure cost accuracy, and support other estimators and managers in all estimating activities.

This role involves quantities take-offs, bid preparation, and communicating with subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing and timely bid submissions. Boise-based opportunity with growth in project scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• Preferred working knowledge of Destini Estimator software, BlueBeam, Assemble, and other latest software and technology.
• Preferred working knowledge of On Screen Take-off
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines.
• Appropriate knowledge of construction practices and methods.
• Working knowledge of Revit and Primavera systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Champions 'The Layton Way' by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
• Ensures integrity by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
• Assists other estimators in preparing estimates for potential projects using hard-bid, design-build and conceptual estimating.
• Reads and understands contract documents (plans, specifications & addenda).
• Performs quantity take-offs, organizes and prices information.
• Solicits bids and quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Communicates with subs and suppliers to clarify pricing information.
• Prepares estimate formats in general conditions, general bidding, quantity takeoffs and bid analysis.
• Assists with the preparation of bid proposals for submittal.
• Prepares outline schedules for proposed projects.
• Assists staff with various special projects related to estimating.
