Job summary

Verdantas in Elmwood Park, NJ, is seeking an Engineering Staff I to join our Site/Civil team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early‑career civil engineer to gain hands‑on experience on diverse projects across land development, airports, and higher education facilities.

You will support site and civil design, prepare plans, use AutoCAD Civil 3D, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and contribute to schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering is a plus.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or progress toward obtaining the EIT is strongly preferred.
• Basic proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Understanding of fundamental civil engineering theories, principles, and design practices.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with MicroStation is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to learn new technical skills and software quickly.
• Ability to manage assignments and meet project deadlines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for field and project assignments.

Responsibilities

• Support civil and site design for land development, airport, mixed-use, residential, higher education, and other infrastructure projects.
• Assist with site plans, grading plans, utility layouts, stormwater designs, and other civil engineering deliverables.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to assist with engineering design, calculations, plans, and drawings.
• Coordinate civil design activities with other engineering and design disciplines.
• Perform engineering calculations and apply fundamental civil engineering principles to project work.
• Research engineering and design issues, evaluate alternatives, and assist with developing practical solutions.
• Support project teams in meeting schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
• Assist licensed Professional Engineers with project design and documentation.
• Participate in field assignments, site visits, and other project‑related activities as needed.
• Prepare clear and accurate technical documentation.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and other team members throughout the project lifecycle.

Verdantas is seeking an Engineering Staff I to join our Site/Civil team in Elmwood Park, New Jersey.
