Brooksource is seeking an entry-level Engineer to support electric utility planning, system reliability, and distribution operations. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career engineers looking to build a long-term career within the utilities and energy industry while gaining hands‑on experience supporting critical infrastructure projects.

What You'll Do
  • Support power system planning and analysis activities for electric distribution systems.
  • Assist with engineering studies related to system capacity, reliability, load growth, and customer requests.
  • Learn and utilize utility engineering software to analyze electrical networks and system performance.
  • Support outage analysis, reliability improvement initiatives, and system reinforcement projects.
  • Assist in the development of technical reports, study findings, and engineering recommendations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and field teams to support safe and reliable service.
  • Participate in projects involving electrification, distributed generation, and grid modernization initiatives.
  • Gain exposure to system protection, relay coordination, and distribution system operations.
  • Support storm restoration efforts and other high‑priority operational initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an ABET‑accredited institution required.
  • 0-2 years of professional engineering experience (internships, co‑ops, research, or project experience encouraged).
  • Strong interest in the utilities, energy, or power delivery industry.
  • Exposure to power systems, electrical distribution, protection and controls, or utility operations is a plus.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Self‑motivated, eager to learn, and interested in building a career supporting critical infrastructure.
  • Willingness to travel locally as needed and support occasional storm restoration activities.
Preferred Background
  • Power Systems coursework
  • Utility‑focused internships or co‑ops
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems
  • Experience with engineering modeling or analysis software
  • Interest in renewable energy, grid modernization, or electrification initiatives
