The Brennan Center for Justice in New York City seeks an experienced Associate Editor to guide flagship research and policy reports. Reporting to the Managing Editor for Publications, the Associate Editor will work with attorneys and social scientists to develop manuscripts that are rigorous and readable, shepherding them through production with editors, designers, and staff.

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least five years of editorial experience in publishing, journals, media, or think tanks.
• Ability to translate complex research and legal topics into clear language.
• Fluency in Chicago style and judgment in its application.
• Strong project management and diplomatic skills for timely publication.
• Comfort with reviewing and editing multidisciplinary policy content.

Responsabilidades

• Line edit manuscripts for clarity, concision, accessibility, and rigor.
• Develop and manage production schedules and editorial pipelines.
• Check proofs against editorial and design standards.
• Develop plans for report collateral and rollout strategies.
• Assess proposals and support authors in new projects.
• Advise staff on editorial best practices and house style.
• Serve as copyeditor for articles, newsletters, and multimedia pieces.
