The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law seeks an Associate Editor to guide flagship research and policy reports. You will partner with attorneys and social scientists to develop manuscripts, shepherd them through production, and ensure high editorial standards that influence policymakers and the press.

The role reports to the Managing Editor for Publications and collaborates with communications to disseminate findings beyond traditional audiences; bilingual candidates are encouraged.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of editorial experience.
• Ability to translate complex policy and legal language into plain English.
• Outstanding editing judgment and strong project management.
• Fluency with Chicago style and willingness to adapt.
• Experience moving manuscripts through production and review pipelines.
• Capable of developing innovative report collateral and rollouts.
• Spanish language skills are a plus for Brennan en español materials.

Responsabilidades

• Line edit manuscripts for clarity, concision, accessibility, and rigor.
• Develop and manage production schedules and editorial pipelines.
• Check proofs to ensure editorial and design standards.
• Create plans for report collateral and rollouts.
• Assess proposals and support authors in developing new projects.
• Advise staff on editorial best practices and house style.
• Copyedit articles, newsletters, videos, and other materials as needed.
