The big picture: Axios is seeking a talented Associate Editor to oversee breaking news coverage on Axios.com.

Key qualities: Ideal candidates will demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for Axios’ mission, and possess the following skills:

1. Experience leading or assisting a breaking news desk, assigning stories, and ensuring quality reporting and editing.
2. Ability to identify urgent news as it emerges, quickly turning around coverage while coordinating with topical experts.
3. Familiarity with the competitive web-breaking news space, including writing sharp headlines for social media and SEO.
4. Experience with alerting news for app, email, and social audiences.
5. Strong attention to detail in fact-checking and copy editing.
6. A positive attitude and ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure news environments.
7. Comfort with newsroom workflow tools and real-time analytics.
8. Excellent verbal communication and collaboration skills, especially in a remote environment.
9. This role requires working on Sundays as part of the regular schedule.

Compensation: Starting salary ranges from $58,000 to $93,000, depending on location, experience, and skills. This range does not include other benefits. The salary is adjusted based on the candidate's location within the U.S., considering cost of labor differentials.
