Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering seeks an experienced Associate Director of Communications and Media Relations. You will lead editorial operations, translate complex research into compelling content, and collaborate with faculty, researchers, and media to raise the school's profile.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Communications and Marketing, you will supervise staff, shape strategic plans, and develop integrated campaigns that showcase engineering research,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field.
• Six years of experience in public relations, marketing, media relations, or a related field (or equivalent).
• Strong writing, editing, organizational, and project management skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead strategic communications, editorial, research communications, and media relations initiatives.
• Translate priorities into actionable plans and manage projects from concept to execution.
• Serve as trusted communications partner to chairs, faculty leaders, and administrative staff.
• Oversee editorial operations including news stories, web content, newsletters, and multimedia storytelling.
• Write and edit high-profile materials, including features, speeches, and press releases.
• Develop annual editorial calendars aligned with research and academic programs.
• Lead media relations and build relationships with journalists.
• Collaborate with multimedia, digital, and University Communications teams.
